Impact of Human Rights Advocacy Centre (HRAC)

Legal Victories:

HRAC successfully litigated a case involving unlawful detention, resulting in a court ruling that affirmed the right to due process for all citizens in Ghana. This landmark decision set a precedent for judicial accountability and the protection of civil liberties.

Community Empowerment:

Through workshops on human rights, HRAC empowered a rural community to challenge discriminatory practices against women in land ownership. As a result, community members mobilized to advocate for equal rights, leading to policy changes that protected women's property rights.

Policy Influence:

HRAC's advocacy efforts contributed to the passage of legislation ensuring access to healthcare for persons with disabilities. By collaborating with policymakers and disability rights groups, HRAC influenced the inclusion of provisions that guarantee equal healthcare rights for all individuals in Ghana.

Overall Impact:

  • Legal Victories: Upholding due process and civil liberties.
  • Community Empowerment: Advocating for women's land rights.
  • Policy Influence: Ensuring healthcare access for persons with disabilities.
